New Tricks!

Thank you SO MUCH, Kayla, for our PRECIOUS sushi onsies!!!!!  The girls LOVE them and I do too!!!

Reese is absolutely the “ham” of the fam!  She loves the sound of her voice (we do too- cracks us up): she screams, squeals, hums, “talks”, coos, and laughs non-stop.  Really– even in her sleep!  She is thrilled when she sees herself in the mirror.  It makes her kick and wiggle with excitement and squeal, of course! She is always smiling (unless she’s tired or hungry).  When we sing to her, she “joins in” with all her noises. She’s getting better with tummy time- holding her head up better and not screaming… the entire time at least.  She’s started sleeping in her own crib (without sis) and seems to love it as she spreads her arms all the way out soaking up all that space!  Reese Abigail is PRECIOUS.  Her latest trick:  When on her tummy today, she ROLLED over to her back!!!  She was SO PROUD of herself- wish I could have captured her face!

Riley is a bit more reserved that her sister but certainly just as happy and busy!  She loves to soak things in around her- she’s always scoping things out.  Her smile is so sweet- usually a half smile turned huge- like she eases into it!  :)  She’s a hoot.  She’s started really cooing- they’re sweet quiet sounds while she’s looking you right in the eyes as if she’s having a deep conversation with you.  I LOVE it.  She also has started giggling.  We have decided it resembles the Pillsbury Dough Boy (girl in this case). ha!  She’s still dramatic when hungry or tired- so she still has the title drama queen in the fam. :)  She too has been sleeping in her crib.  She spends lots of time looking at and talking to her mobile, but eventually falls asleep.  Every morning we go in, she seems to have turned 90 degrees in her crib… how- I have NO idea!  funny girl.  Her latest trick:  LITERALLY 2 seconds after Reese rolled over today, Riley rolled over too.  Isn’t that funny?!  

We love them more and more each day- if that’s possible.  What blessings they are.

Pray for Baby Harper

Harper Brown Stamps was born to Scott and Kelly on Friday, January 16 with life threatening breathing/ possible heart problems.  Please pray for this precious baby and her family.  She is stable but in critical condition.  For updates and more on their story click on the button below.

4 months old

On January 4, the girls were 4 months old (on the 12th- 2 months adjusted) and are as precious as can be!!  

Riley Grace is growing like crazy-it’s hard to believe that she was 2lbs 3oz when she was born and even got down to 1 lb 9 oz!!  Here are her stats:

Weight: 8 lbs 15.5 oz (below 3rd percentile)

Length: 21 inches (below 3rd percentile)

Head: 12 1/4 inches (below 3rd percentile)

Just last week she started smiling!!!  She usually smiles with one side of her mouth, then goes to the full open mouth smile- ohhhhhh I just looooove it!  I couldn’t capture if on camera- the flash is too distracting, so here is a video!

She is swatting at her toys and even grabs onto them.  When she lays on her play mat, she kicks and waves her arms with excitement!  As of this week, she’s growing out of her newborn clothes and into 0-3 months- what a big girl!  She’s still in newborn diapers, but size 1 is just around the corner. :)  Her reflux has been WAY better which is wonderful and she is eating 5 1/2 oz every 3 hours during the day and will sleep up to 5 hours at night.  She’s still a bit more dramatic than her sister- with her very high-pitched cry and her hilarious high-pitched sneezes: ahhh ahhh ahhh choooooo!  Riley looks like a little doll with her sweet features and eyelashes that go on for miles.  When she is waking up, she makes these noises that we say sounds like a lamb… :)  We love love love our little Riley Boo, our little lamb, our precious Ri.  

Reese Abigail melts our hearts as well!  I could just kiss her cheeks all day (well, i do…)!  She started at 3 lbs and is now:

Weight: 11 lbs 5 oz (10th percentile)

Length: 22 inches (below 3rd percentile)

Head: 13 inches (below 3rd percentile)

She is SUCH a happy baby- always showing off those GUMS!  She smiles wide especially first thing in the morning when we get her out of bed.  She even squeals and slightly laughs if we’re silly enough.  Here she is showing off:

Reese loves laying under the play mat and will swat at her toys with her left hand then right hand, left hand, then right hand- it’s like her toys are a punching bag or something! ha!  She really likes looking at herself in the mirror and will just talk and talk to herself while staring intently.  She can wear some 0-3 month clothes, but also some 3-6 months.  She’s in size 1 diapers and is growing so much.  She, too, is eating 5 1/2 oz or a bit more every 3-4 hours during the day and will sleep about 5 hours at night before letting us know she’s hungry.  Her laid back personality, chubby cheeks and legs!, and baby blue eyes are just precious.  We love love love our Reesey, our Reese Abigail, our Reesey Poo (she won’t like that one- will she?!).  

At their 4 month appointment we found that they are as healthy as a horse!  We are proud to say that we have stayed sick-free so far!  I am quite the “rule follower.”  If they say it’s RSV.Flu season don’t go out and about, we will not!  We go to dr appointments and on walks… that’s it.  Can’t wait until April to get out with these precious gals- shopping and out to lunch- can hardly stand the wait!!  After their 4 month appointment we were referred to ECI (Early Childhood Intervention) for a couple things Dr. Pam noticed with the girls.  We had their initial eval yesterday and will start OT within the next couple weeks.  The girls have tight muscles in their legs and also their necks.  They both prefer to look right, so it’s become difficult to look left (Torticollis).  We try to “talk them into” looking left with toys and positioning, but they are a bit stubborn… where’d they get that from?!  The OT is going to show us some stretches for the girls and also some positioning because their little heads are getting flat spots!  I’m excited to meet with her because I feel like we’ve tried lots of things- it’ll be good to get advice from a pro!  Pray for my little preemies that their muscles strengthen/stretch appropriately and their heads turn perfectly round! :)

We cannot stop thanking God for the miracles of Reese and Riley!  They are more and more fun everyday!  Thank you for your continued prayers.

Countdown to the END of RSV/Flu season: 77 days and counting!

Happy 2009!

Hope your New Year’s Eve was as fun and crazy as ours!  We MADE oursleves stay up until midnight with a couple friends and then… went to bed at 12:15 and then woke up at 1:30 to feed the girls… my how times have changed! :)  The girls partied a bit too hard… ha!

On New Year’s Day we got to see some of the SWEET nurses from the NICU!!!  We stopped by to say hello– it was so much fun!  They nurses were impressed with how R and R have grown.  The girls got some lovin’ and loved every second!  Reese was really “hamming it up”- smiling and talking!  We wish we got to see ALL of the nurses and doctors- we’ll have to go to the reunion to catch up with everyone- we can’t wait!  Thank you SO much for ALL you did for our angels- for helping them be as well as they are today!

The Twin’s First Christmas!

On Christmas day and even now when I think about it- I’m teary eyed.  It is the day we celebrate Christ our Savior’s birth who came to this earth to die on the cross for our sins.  WOW.  I get our Father’s the sacrifice better now than ever.  I prayed for (and many of you did too- thank you!) a baby for so long and we have been BLESSED with Reese and Riley.  I’m in awe of God’s power and goodness.  We had an amazing first Christmas with our family and our 2 miracles!  Christmas week included some “firsts” for the girls!

The girls tried out their Bumbo chairs!  Reese did well… Riley had some trouble! :)  That’s my hand holding her head! ha!

Every girl needs a baby in a stroller!  Riley is enjoying pushing it around the house. :)

hello!

We had an amazing first Christmas with our little girls- we have TONS of pics and stories to tell… I just haven’t sat still long enough to post it yet!  :)  The girls are growing leaps and bounds and doing new things everyday.  I can’t believe they’re four months old!!!  I’ll post with pics asap!  For now… I’ll leave you with a sweet video of Reese “talking” to her toys and Riley a little bit too. :)
